Stefan Lindfors, born in 1962, is the Joyce C. Hall Distinguished Professor of Design and Chair of the Design Department at the Kansas City Art Institute. He is internationally recognized in industrial design, sculpture, graphic design, interior architecture, furniture design, and scenography. Stephan Lindfors, Inc. maintains active commercial design offices and studios in Kansas City and Helsinki. In addition to serving as visiting artist and lecturer at a number of design institutes in Europe, he has taught at the University of Art and Design and at the Polytechnical University in Helsinki, the University of Applied Arts in Oslo, and the Denmark School in Copenhagen. His design and sculpture works are included in the permanent collections of The Chicago Atheneum Museum of Architecture and Design, the Museum of Applied Arts, Helsinki, and the Vitra Design Museum, Basel, Switzerland. Stephan Lindfors designed lighting objects for Ingo Maurer GmbH and Skanno.
