Born in Santeramo in 1950, Lorenzo Stano lives and works in Milan, where he studied at the Istituto Europeo di Design. He worked for light-manufacturer Candle before going on to work with them as a freelance consultant and designer. The specific skills he accumulated as a lighting designer have enabled him to design products for the leading names in the lighting sector and to develop technical-lighting projects in civil and commercial environments. From 1976 to 1987, he taught and conducted research at the Department of Industrial Design at the Istituto Europeo di Design. In 1980, he opened his own practice and started working with, and providing consultancy to, companies in a range of manufacturing sectors. He has designed furniture, complementary furnishings, lamps and objects for numerous companies, including: Art & Form, Arcluce, Bernini, Caimi Brevetti, Candle, Citterio Meda, Civic, Disano, Elam, Felice Rossi, Fosnova, Lumina, Neve Rubinetterie, Rapsel, Tosimobili, Tre Ci Luce, Valenti, Ycami. Since 1977 Paolo Bistacchi has been working independently from his own office in Milan, collaborating whit companies in the furniture and lighting sectors.
