Designer name: Klier, Hans von
  1934 - 2000
Hans von Klier was born in Tetschen (Czech Republic, 1934). He received his degree in 1959 in industrial design from the Ulm Hochschule für Gestaltung. This school produced the most significant postwar movement, despite its short-lived existence (1955-1968), leaving its indelible imprint on the aesthetics of industrial artifacts. Von Klier moved to Milan permanently in 1960, where he started working with Ettore Sottsass; he specialized in computer and business machine design. In 1968 he was put in charge of Olivetti's Corporate Identity project. The red manuals, "Sistemi di Identificazione Olivetti," which were to win the Compasso d'Oro, were engendered. He has participated in the Milan Triennale twice. Von Klier has been on numerous juries: the Deutscher Bundespreis "Gute Form," the Paris E.S.A.G., the Milan SMAU award, the Internationaler Farb-Design Preis of Stuttgart and the Hannover IF - Industrie Forum Design. He has held design lectures in Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, Canada, Japan and Singapore. The designer has been working for Zanotta since 1992.
