Born in Tokyo in 1962. the architect and designer Masayo Ave, graduated from architecture department of the engineering faculty of Hosei University in Tokyo. After working for I. Ebihara architect and associates, in 1990 she moved from Tokyo to Milan where she completed a master\'s degree in industrial design at the Domus Academy. In 1992, she founded her own design studio Ave design corporation based in Tokyo and Milan. In 1996, she received a grant from the Akademie Schloss Solitude, Germany and launched her own collection \"MasayoAve creation\" in 2000.
Her design projects, which range from everyday objects to architecture, and also from modern artisanship to mass produced products, are all the product of a perfect harmony between tradition, cutting-edge technology and an inventiveness find its source in her artistic search for the emotional value lying hidden in material.
As a winner of a number of international competitions, including ICFF2000 editor\'s award and A&W Mentor Award 2006, she has founded international recognition in the field of architecture, garden design, furniture, lighting, textile, and package as well as product design. In addition to the work on her own collection, she is also a product designer for design companies like Authentics, DuPont, industrielle and Yamaha. Since 2004, she is nominated as the member of juror for Red Dot Award and Interzum Award in Germany.
After collecting many years of experiences in the international design sector, Masayo Ave has been taken over the leadership to conduct the international design workshop since 2001. The workshop focuses on \"Haptic\" - the value of tactile sensitivity, and sensorial aspects in material, working for and with young creators, craftsmen, professionals as well as children from a variety of areas and countries.
In 2005, MasayoAve moved her European base from Milan to Berlin, following to her guest professorship at University of Arts Berlin to lead an experimental design institute of \"Haptic Interface Design\" for three years. In 2007- 09, she had been appointed professor and head of product design department at Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn.
Masayo Ave currently is based in Berlin and active internationally on both design practice and research projects as well as on various educational programmes in design.
Arnout Visser (born 1962) studied on the Art School in Arnhem in the Netherlands (1984-1989). He also got a degree 1n 1990 at the Domus Academy in Milan, Italy. He\'s working in his own studio from 1991 on different collections (eg Droog Design)
