Designer name: Mulder, Monika
  1975 -
Having grown up in the North of Holland, Monika Mulder went on to study Industrial Design at The Design Academy in Eindhoven. She studied the \'Man and Leisure\' curriculum, led by Li Edelkoort. After her graduation in 1997 she moved to Sweden to work as an in house designers at IKEA. In 2006, Monika established her own studio to focus on furniture design and design for the home environment. However her love of design has led to numerous industrial design projects, in co-operation with leading Swedish engineering companies. Monika Mulders work is both playful and functional, solving challenges of production with creativity and consideration. Having traveled the world to develop products on the factory floor. Monika has gained an inert understanding of manufacturing processes, as well as excellent communication skills in different work areas. Monika’s passion for design, drives her to create objects of beauty with functionality; giving grace to every day objects, through Nordic rationalism and with a degree of femininity. A Swedish and international award winning designer having won the likes of Best Furniture of the Year, Excellence Swedish Design Award, plus nominee for Kho Liang Le prize. She has also been represented in the International Design Yearbook. As well as designing for the industry, Monika also guest lectures at universities, institutions and conferences internationally, aiming to share her experience as an industrial designer.
