Designer name: Solere, Fernand (Societe Solere)
  1925 -
Fernand Solere. 1925, Societe Solere was founded by Fernand Solere in Paris. He developed and patented a diverse range of products such as a cigarette-rolling machine, the first electric coffee grinder and the first electric cooker. His 1950s lighting fixture-Solere's best known invention-features a special diffusion filter, or Solersol, which purportedly produces almost no shadows and is ideally suited for use in offices of architects and engineers. Initially it was intended to provide precise illumination in factories during machine operations. Known as the Solere Luminaire it is still in production. The lamp has been produced until 2010 by Societe Contraste in Crecy-la-Chapelle. It is now available from Gispen.
