Luc Ramael was born in Antwerp (Belgium) in 1953. In 1975 he graduated as an interior architect from the "Nationaal Hoger Instituut voor Bouwkunde en Stedebouw" in Antwerp. He lives in Antwerp ever since. He did specialized studies in furniture design and photography. After his studies he worked at several architecture studios. In 1988 he set up his own studio for interior architecture and furniture design. Since 1984 he teaches interior design, furniture design and design basics at several architecture schools in Belgium. He designs intimate furniture and lighting objects, without anecdotal humor or exaggerated experimenting. Logic and good taste leads to useful and familiar objects, always without unnecessary frills. Luc Ramael has been collaborating with lighting and furniture-companies in Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain and Italy. He won several prizes in international competitions. He has been invited, as external examiner, by several architecture schools and was member of the jury for the prestigious competition of " Interior 2000" Kortrijk (Belgium). His furniture designs and interior architecture projects were exposed in several exhibitions in Antwerp, Ghent, Brussels, Amsterdam, Frankfurt-am-Main, Milan, Paris, Barcelona,. As an interior architect Luc Ramael works in the field of private housing, shop- and restaurant design, exhibition design, medical cabinets. Ramael designed lighting fixtures for Martinelli Luce and Prandina.
